So I ask forgiveness now
Lord, reveal yourself in mercy
Call off all emergency
And look at thing things the way I see them
For the beauty of the earth
It shows us wisdom, love and rebirth
Chorus...
I wanna love you, I wanna love you
Until the earth runs through it
I wanna love you, I wanna love you
And I’m definitely gonna do it
For the love of mercy
In the face of all this danger
For the most of all my life
I feel as if I were a stranger
And all the consequences
From the throes of our persuasion
Lord, I ask for patience now
Call off all of your invasion
There is beauty where I see it
Everywhere that I can feel it
I am on the verge of sorrow
Tell me, lord, which road to follow
This is undoubtedly my single favorite album of all time. It feels like such a perfect culmination of all the themes and ideas Fleet Foxes has been working with since 2008. It answers many of the questions found on both Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up, and represents an incredible maturation and growth in Robin Pecknold's perspective. Their other albums are certainly masterpieces, but this, in my opinion, is their magnum opus. I doubt it will be recognized as such in its time. isaiah_stuart
Stark, folk-derived songs built on brittle acoustic guitars that conjure the image of a fire burning in the distance on a dark night. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 8, 2022
